ACCURATE.CO Google has just released a new guide aimed at helping Gemini users maximize their experience in Workspace.
The latest edition of this guide, entitled 'prompting guide' and published in April 2024, highlights four key areas to consider when creating effective messages or instructions:
1. Personas
Identify who Gemini users are.
2. Tasks
Explain what needs to be done, such as writing, summarizing or changing the tone.
3. Context
Provide as much background information as possible.
4. Format
Determine the method of delivery, such as using bullet points or setting a limit on the number of characters.
Google emphasizes the importance of writing messages with complete thoughts in complete sentences, without needing to include all four aspects in each initial message. They also suggest keeping messages short and avoiding jargon.
Quoted from 9to5mac.com, Wednesday (10/4/2024), users are advised to experiment with various approaches if the results are not satisfactory on the first try. Google found that the most successful messages contain about 21 words on average.
The guide also includes example personas and refined instructions for a variety of roles, such as customer service, executive, human resources, marketing, project management and sales.
Additional tips include breaking tasks into separate instructions, providing clear boundaries, assigning roles to encourage creativity, asking Gemini for feedback, adjusting the tone of instructions and making revisions if necessary.
With a focus on clarity, relevance and accuracy, Google encourages users to continually review and refine their results to achieve optimal results.
