Saudi Arabia is building an island the size of Belgium in the middle of the sea
Riyadh - Recently, Saudi Arabia's ambition to dominate world tourism has become increasingly clear. After NEOM, the next project is called The Line.
Reporting from UNILAD on Friday (15/3/2024), Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud was the donor for the project. The Line is predicted to be a new island on the coastline of Saudi Arabia. The project will turn the desert into a super city with a value of USD 1 trillion.
The island was designed to be the size of Belgium. In it there are 90 islands with 50 luxury hotels that have 8,000 rooms. The Line is planned to be completed in 2030.

This massive development is part of Saudi Arabia's strategy in its efforts to become a world tourism center. Even though it is called an 'almost impossible project', Saudi Arabia is optimistic that it will be able to make it happen.
The project is designed to use full 100 percent renewable energy and will operate from the moment the island opens.
"These responsible tourism destinations will collectively enhance Saudi Arabia's luxury and sustainable tourism offering," the developers wrote on the project website.
The first resort will open in 2023, with 16 other luxury hotels following in 2024-2025. Developers count roughly 50 luxury resorts to be completed by 2030.
"They will do more than expected to protect nature and improve its quality in the future," he wrote.
Aircraft traffic will be carried out via the Red Sea Airport which opens in September 2024. This is the fastest access to get to the island.
