- In big cities, the use of WiFi in homes, offices and schools has become commonplace. What's interesting, many people are curious, is it possible to see a user's search history from WiFi?
According to ProtonVPN, anyone who has direct access to the router (usually the owner but maybe also hackers) can see the browsing history. The things that can be seen besides browsing history are how long the user visited the website, the exact time the user connected to the website, the total time online, and the device address.
But, search engines like Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo are secured with HTTPS. So, although the WiFi owner can see that you have visited the search engine, they cannot see what you were looking for while you were there. However, if you click on the link from a search engine, the link can be seen by the WiFi owner.

What about internet searches at work, school or campus? Can they have control over our internet usage?
"Many organizations will use filters that actively flag and identify users who are attempting to access content that is illegal, immoral, or that may raise concerns. For example, many schools and universities will alert administrators if students try to access websites related to suicide or drug use," explains ProtonVPN.
The next question is how to make the WiFi owner unable to see the internet history? The method is simple, just use a VPN.
Virtual Private Network (VPN) encrypts all data (including DNS queries) between the device and the VPN server run by the service. This prevents WiFi owners, hackers, internet service providers (ISPs), mobile internet providers, or anyone else from being able to access the data.
It can be concluded that WiFi owners can see which websites have been visited by users. However, what you search for on a search engine like Google will not be known.

Kendati demikian, jika kamu klik link dari pencarian di mesin pencari, tautan itu bisa dilihat pemilik WiFi.
