This was discovered in an internal memo as reported by The Verge page, Thursday (18/1/2024).
Google has laid off more than a thousand employees in various departments since January 10, 2024.
The message from CEO Sundar Pichai is to prepare for further cuts.
"We have ambitious goals and will invest in our big priorities this year," Pichai said to all Google employees, Wednesday (17/1/2024) local time in an internal memo.
“The reality is that to create this investment capacity, we have to make difficult choices,” he added.

So far, those “tough choices” include layoffs and reorganizations at Google's hardware, ad sales, search, shopping, maps, policy, core engineering, and YouTube teams.
“The elimination of these roles is not as large as last year's reductions, and will not affect any teams,” Pichai wrote in his memo.
Referring to when Google cut 12,000 jobs last year.
“But I know it is very difficult to see colleagues and teams affected,” he said.
Pichai said this year's layoffs were about simplifying implementation and driving speed in some areas.
He confirmed what many at Google feared that there would be more “role elimination” to come.
“Many of these changes have been announced, albeit prematurely, some teams will continue to make certain resource allocation decisions throughout the year as needed, and some roles may be impacted,” he wrote.

Hal itu diketahui dalam memo internal sebagaimana melansir laman The Verge, Kamis (18/1/2024).
Google telah memberhentikan lebih dari seribu karyawan di berbagai departemen sejak 10 Januari 2024.
Pesan dari CEO Sundar Pichai adalah bersiap untuk melakukan pemotongan lebih lanjut.
“Kami memiliki tujuan yang ambisius dan akan berinvestasi dalam prioritas besar kami tahun ini,” kata Pichai kepada seluruh karyawan Google, Rabu (17/1/2024) waktu setempat dalam sebuah memo internal.
“Kenyataannya adalah untuk menciptakan kapasitas investasi ini, kita harus membuat pilihan yang sulit,” tambahnya.

Sejauh ini, “pilihan sulit” tersebut mencakup PHK dan reorganisasi di perangkat keras Google, penjualan iklan, penelusuran, belanja, peta, kebijakan, teknik inti, dan tim YouTube.
“Penghapusan peran ini tidak sebesar pengurangan tahun lalu, dan tidak akan mempengaruhi setiap tim,” tulis Pichai dalam memonya.
Merujuk pada saat Google memangkas 12.000 pekerjaan pada tahun lalu.
“Tetapi saya tahu sangat sulit melihat kolega dan tim terkena dampaknya,” katanya.
Pichai mengatakan, PHK tahun ini adalah tentang menyederhanakan pelaksanaan dan mendorong kecepatan di beberapa area.
Dia menegaskan apa yang dikhawatirkan oleh banyak orang di Google bahwa akan ada lebih banyak “penghapusan peran” yang akan terjadi.
“Banyak dari perubahan ini telah diumumkan, meskipun secara dini, beberapa tim akan terus membuat keputusan alokasi sumber daya tertentu sepanjang tahun jika diperlukan, dan beberapa peran mungkin akan terkena dampaknya,” tulisnya.
