THE STORY OF The Vadoma Tribe having feet like birds is an interesting topic to discuss. The tribe is known to inhabit a region of Kayemba in northern Zimbabwe.
They are known as a tribe that lives traditionally by gathering and hunting for food. The inhabitants of the Vadoma Tribe have their own characteristic, namely the shape of their feet like those of an ostrich.
So, why do the Vadoma tribe have feet like ostriches? Quoting The Bright Side, the condition experienced by residents of the Vadoma tribe is caused by a rare genetic disorder called ectrodactyly. Ectrodactyly or also known as lobster claw syndrome itself is a disorder that causes malformations in the hands or feet of humans.
As a result, the fingers or toes are split with the absence of one or more middle fingers and only the outermost fingers are present in an inverted shape. This condition is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner so that offspring will suffer from the same condition.

So if one parent has this condition, then their offspring have a 50 percent chance of experiencing the same thing. On the other hand, the Vadoma tribe considers the conditions they experience to occur because their ancestors came from the Baobab tree.
The tribal elders believe that their ancestors were like birds that appeared from the sky and settled among human life. They also stated that the DNA they had came from a combination of the DNA of earth women and birds. Not only that, the residents of the Vadoma Tribe also confirmed that they came from Planet Liitolafisi, which is the place where their ancestors came from.

Even though they have a unique and unusual foot condition, the residents of the Vadoma Tribe actually feel grateful and proud. Not only because they are different from other tribes, they also rely heavily on their legs to climb trees. It is for this reason that native Vadoma people are prohibited from marrying people of the opposite sex outside their group so that these characteristics do not spread to other tribes.

Unfortunately, now many residents of the Vadoma tribe have abandoned their traditional lifestyle and moved to the lowlands. This happens because of strict prohibitions against illegal hunting and threats from forest guards.

KISAH Suku Vadoma memiliki kaki seperti burung jadi topik yang menarik untuk diulas. Suku tersebut diketahui mendiami sebuah wilayah Kayemba di bagian utara Zimbabwe.
Mereka dikenal sebagai suku yang hidup secara tradisional dengan mengumpulkan dan berburu makanan. Penduduk Suku Vadoma memiliki ciri khas tersendiri, yakni bentuk kaki seperti burung unta. Lantas, kenapa Suku Vadoma memiliki kaki seperti burung unta? Mengutip The Bright Side, kondisi yang dialami oleh penduduk Suku Vadoma disebabkan karena adanya kelainan genetik langka yang disebut ektrodaktili (Ectrodactyly). Ektrodaktili atau juga dikenal sebagai sindrom cakar lobster sendiri merupakan sebuah kelainan yang menyebabkan malformasi pada bagian tangan atau kaki manusia.
Akibatnya, jari tangan atau kaki terbelah dengan tidak adanya satu atau lebih jari tengah dan hanya ada jari terluar dengan bentuk terbalik.
Kondisi tersebut diwariskan secara autosomal dominan sehingga keturunan akan mengidap kondisi yang sama.

Sehingga jika salah satu orang tua memiliki kondisi tersebut, maka keturunannya 50 persen kemungkinan mengalami hal yang sama.
Di lain sisi, Suku Vadoma menganggap kondisi yang mereka alami terjadi karena nenek moyangnya berasal dari pohon Baobab.
Para tetua suku percaya nenek moyangnya dulu seperti burung yang muncul dari langit dan menetap di tengah kehidupan manusia.
Mereka juga menyatakan, jika DNA yang dimiliki berasal dari kombinasi DNA perempuan bumi dan burung. Tidak hanya itu saja, penduduk Suku Vadoma juga menegaskan bahwa mereka berasal dari Planet Liitolafisi, yakni tempat asal nenek moyangnya.

Kendati memiliki kondisi kaki yang unik dan tidak biasa, penduduk Suku Vadoma justru merasa bersyukur dan bangga. Bukan hanya karena menjadi berbeda dengan suku lain, mereka juga sangat mengandalkan kakinya untuk memanjat pohon. Karena alasan itulah penduduk asli Suku Vadoma dilarang menikah dengan lawan jenis di luar kelompoknya agar ciri khas tersebut tidak menyebar ke suku lain.

Sayangnya, kini banyak penduduk Suku Vadoma yang telah meninggalkan gaya hidup tradisionalnya dan pindah ke dataran rendah. Hal ini terjadi karena adanya larangan keras terhadap perburuan liar dan ancaman dari penjaga hutan.
