SARANJANA is believed to be a magical city full of mysteries in Kalimantan. But its location still raises debate. Various stories emerge describing the uniqueness of this invisible city which is believed to be the center of the jinn kingdom.

Several mystical events that occurred in Kalimantan were associated with Saranjana. So where is the exact location?
Even though its existence is still a mystery, Saranjana City was apparently recorded on ancient maps. Among them are the Salomon Muller map of 1854, Isaac Dornseiffen's map of 1868, Pieter Johannes Veth's dictionary of 1869, and the Sketch Map of the Residency Southern and Eastern Division of Borneo 1913.

The location of Saranjana City has various versions, as revealed by Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) historian Mansyur in his journal entitled "Saranjana in Historical Record: The City's Invisibility in Pulau Laut, South Kalimantan".

The first version is said to be in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan. The second version of Saranjana is in Tamiang Bay, Pulau Laut, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan. The third version is on the hill in Oka-Oka Village, Pulau Laut Kelautan District, South Kalimantan.

Even though the location is directly adjacent to the sea and is suitable as a tourist spot, local residents consider the place to be haunted.
Saranjana comes from the Legend of the Kingdom of Halimun Island. In this legend, it is said that King Pakurindang had two sons, namely Sambu Batung and Sambu Ranjana.

The story of Mrs. Aras's meeting with Saranjana people, whose fingers were flat and had no curved lips

King Pakurindang's two sons were known to often fight. Therefore, the two were finally separated.

Sambu Batung and Putri Perak were given land in the north of the island which became the forerunner of Mount Sebatung. Meanwhile, Sambu Ranjana was given magical land in the south of the island to continue living in seclusion which eventually formed the City of Saranjana.

In another perspective, it is also stated that Saranjana is the territory of the Dayak Samihim tribe who inhabit the northeastern area of South Kalimantan.

It is believed that this kingdom has existed since the 1660s and was headed by Sambu Ranjana. All members of the tribe still adhere to animist beliefs. However, as time went by Sambu Ranjana converted to Hinduism. However, because there was a war against foreign powers, all the Dayak Samihim then left Saranjana.

The mystical STORIES about the magical city of Saranjana seem to be endless. This time, the spiritual experience came from a traveling cloth seller.

This itinerant cloth seller usually comes to villages to sell his wares using motorbikes. He admitted that he had seen Saranjana City directly with his own eyes. Quoting Burhan's YouTube channel Nahrub Channel, the story began when he sold cloth in Oka-Oka Village, Pulau Laut Islands District, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan for the first time.

He initially entered the village by crossing a bridge. At the end of the bridge he saw the gate that connected the luxurious and beautiful city. This was the first time the man had witnessed this unusual sight, so he muttered what city he had actually seen. He was shown the real atmosphere of the magical city by the Saranjana people.

He was just confused because he initially intended to sell cloth in other people's villages.

Instead, he was lost in a magnificent city surrounded by magnificent buildings, large houses and rows of shops.

He slowly made his way through the magical city, even though he was actually just circling around Oka-Oka Village, which to the naked eye was just wilderness.
However, this traveling salesman whose identity was not revealed witnessed firsthand the appearance of this magnificent city with its bustling population.

After being satisfied with wandering around Saranjana, this man decided to turn around and stop for a while at a shop to fill his stomach.
However, suddenly someone rebuked him. "Sir, where are you going sir?" said the mysterious person.

"I want to stop by, I want to eat," replied the traveling cloth seller, as imitated by Burhan on his YouTube channel.
It is not known for certain whether the person who reprimanded him was a native of Oka-Oka Village or a resident of the magical city of Saranjana.
"Don't come in, Sir, just keep going, go home," ordered the person who had reprimanded him earlier. As a result, the traveling cloth seller obeyed the mysterious man's orders. He continued walking while confused.

Finally, not a single house was visited to sell their merchandise. Long story short, he arrived at the end of the bridge where he first saw the magical city of Saranjana. Strangely, suddenly the Saranjana entrance gate just disappeared, leaving only wilderness in the original form of Oka-Oka Village.

Arriving at the village, he stopped for a moment at one of the residents' houses while he was scared, shaking, and his body was hot and cold. He then told about the incident he had just experienced.

Since that incident, traders never came to the village again. The reason is, what happened to the traveling seller quickly spread widely and reached the ears of traders in the area.
It is not uncommon for someone to want to sell, first asking Saranjana's exact location. If they have entered the area they will immediately turn right.

In fact, before the mystical incident experienced by the traveling cloth seller circulated, around six years ago there were still many traders going back and forth in Oka-Oka Village to sell their wares.

VARIOUS mystical stories about the magical city of Saranjana continue to spread by word of mouth. A series of unique, mystical experiences experienced by a number of local residents and even newcomers, seems to prove that the existence of an invisible modern city in the form of a kingdom really does exist.

The magical city of Saranjana is said to be in Oka-Oka Village, Pulau Laut Islands District, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan.
One shocking story is that of a Javanese girl in a village, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan who mysteriously disappeared after saying goodbye to go to morning prayers.
However, the woman, whose identity was not revealed, did not return home until noon. The family was worried and started searching.

Because they couldn't find any results, one of the family members finally went to a 'smart person' and it was discovered that the person concerned had been taken by a 'magical person' to a nice place which was thought to be Saranjana. As a result, the family then went to Saranjana's caretaker named Pua Bela to ask for help.
Pua Bela was asked to bring the woman back to the human world, because her children and family were very worried about her safety.

However, when Pua Bela picked him up, the woman refused to go home, because she was tied up by work in the magical city of Saranjana.
"I went there twice to pick him up but he didn't want to go home. He couldn't go home because he was working at the court office, even though he was old," said Pua Bela in Mandarin, quoted from the YouTube account, Burhan Nahrub Channel.

Pua Bela said that the woman actually often visited her children in Kotabaru, but because she had been 'vanished' due to being a resident of Saranjana, her children and family at home could not see her.
"He said, I always go there (back home). You don't see me, but I see you," said Pua Bela, imitating the woman's words.
Pua Bela is a person known as one of the key kuru (kuncen) of the magical city of Saranjana. This man, originally from the Mandar tribe, West Sulawesi, admitted that he had been in and out many times and even lived in Saranjana.

He also admitted that he had succeeded in bringing home three residents who had disappeared in Saranjana.
However, there are also quite a few missing people who refuse to go home and prefer to stay in Saranjana because they feel comfortable with the luxurious and modern life there.

The process of retrieving missing residents usually involves or asks for permission directly from their superiors at Saranjana.

The reason is, every missing person who is brought to the city of Saranjana, said Pua Bela, is usually immediately employed, for example in the KUA office, court office or various other jobs.

"Even if someone dies in Saranjana, they will still be buried, prayed and bathed there, just like in the human world," he explained.
Pua Bela also advised anyone who passes Mount Saranjana and its surroundings to always maintain their attitude and do things that will provoke the anger of Saranjana residents.
Visitors are also prohibited from bringing yellow rice and talking carelessly about the magical city of Saranjana. This taboo is still adhered to by the residents of Oka-Oka Village, Pulau Laut Islands District, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan.

Those who violate will usually be 'harassed' and may not even go home.

Di antaranya adalah peta Salomon Muller 1854, peta Isaac Dornseiffen 1868, kamus Pieter Johannes Veth 1869, hingga Sketch Map of the Residency Southern and Eastern Division of Borneo 1913.

Lokasi Kota Saranjana memiliki beragam versi sebagaimana diungkapkan sejarawan Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Mansyur dalam jurnalnya berjudul "Saranjana in Historical Record: The City’s Invisibility in Pulau Laut, South Kalimantan".

Kedua putra Raja Pakurindang diketahui sering berkelahi.

Semua anggota suku masih menganut kepercayaan animisme. Namun, seiring berjalannya waktu Sambu Ranjana beralih jadi Hindu.
Namun karena ada perang melawan kekuatan asing, semua warga Dayak Samihim kemudian meninggalkan Saranjana.

CERITA mistis tentang kota gaib Saranjana seolah tiada habisnya.
