Hollywood Concert Industry Sets Records Throughout 2023

-- This year is the momentum for the Hollywood music concert performance industry to make a profit. Even this year, the music concert industry reportedly set a new record.
According to the Pollstar report as reported by AFP, the income of the 100 best-selling concerts this year broke a record, reaching US$9.17 billion or the equivalent of Rp. 142.2 trillion (US$1=Rp. 15,510).
The total income from concert tours throughout 2023 in the list is calculated from mid-November 2022. As a result, sales of music concerts this year have skyrocketed 46 percent compared to the previous year.
In first place with the best-selling tour is Taylor Swift through The Eras Tour which also broke the record by earning more than US$1 billion or the equivalent of IDR 15.5 trillion.
"2023 is a truly epic year, something unprecedented in the live performance industry," Pollstar wrote in their report.
Pollstar said all calculation metrics showed an increase, such as the average income from a concert which rose 53 percent to US$2.37 million, total ticket sales rose 18 percent to US$70 million, and the average ticket price rose more than 23 percent to US$130.81.
The Eras Tour itself was recorded as the first tour in history whose revenue reached US$1.04 billion from ticket sales. This achievement came from recording ticket sales for 12 months, from 17 November 2022 to 15 November 2023, with 60 shows.
But The Eras Tour is not yet halfway there. Taylor Swift's new tour is scheduled to have 151 concerts and will end in December 2024. Pollstar predicts that The Eras Tour's total revenue will reach US$2 billion when the tour ends.
Prior to The Eras Tour, the only concert tour that had approached a billion dollars to date was Elton John's Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour with revenues of US$939 million.
Meanwhile, in the list of 100 best-selling concerts in 2023, Beyoncé is in second place. His concert, entitled the Renaissance Tour, earned US$579 million with 56 shows.
The third to fifth positions are occupied by the Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay and Harry Styles concert tours. Taylor Swift and Beyonce leading the list of best-selling concerts of 2023 is also a record. With the presence of both of them, this year is the first time in 15 years that female musicians have dominated musical performances.
The last time women dominated music shows was when Madonna and Celine Dion dominated the ratings in 2008. According to Pollstar, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé's achievements are "a very positive sign for the industry."
"This duo is not only breaking down barriers but also creating a more inclusive roof." Pollstar continued.

Menurut laporan Pollstar seperti yang diberitakan AFP, pendapatan 100 konser terlaris tahun ini memecahkan rekor yakni menembus US$9,17 miliar atau setara dengan Rp142,2 triliun (US$1=Rp15.510).
Total pendapatan tur konser sepanjang 2023 dalam daftar tersebut dihitung mulai pertengahan November 2022. Hasilnya, penjualan konser musik tahun ini meroket 46 persen dibanding tahun sebelumnya.
Berada di posisi pertama tur terlaris ada Taylor Swift lewat The Eras Tour yang juga memecahkan rekor dengan menghasilkan lebih dari US$1 miliar atau setara dengan Rp15,5 triliun.
"Tahun 2023 adalah tahun yang sangat hebat, sesuatu yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya dalam industri pertunjukan langsung," tulis Pollstar dalam laporan mereka.
Pollstar menyebut semua metrik penghitungan menunjukkan peningkatan, seperti pendapatan rata-rata dari sebuah konser yang naik 53 persen menjadi US$2,37 juta, total penjualan tiket naik 18 persen ke US$70 juta, dan harga tiket rata-rata naik lebih dari 23 persen menjadi US$130,81.

Sebelum The Eras Tour, satu-satunya tur konser yang telah mendekati satu miliar dolar hingga saat ini adalah tur konser Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour dengan pendapatan US$939 juta.
Sementara itu dalam daftar 100 konser terlaris 2023, Beyonce menempati posisi kedua. Konsernya yang bertajuk Renaissance Tour itu memperoleh US$579 juta dengan 56 pertunjukan.
Posisi ketiga sampai kelima ditempati oleh tur konser Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay dan Harry Styles.
Taylor Swift dan Beyonce yang memimpin daftar konser terlaris 2023 juga merupakan sebuah rekor. Dengan keberadaan keduanya, tahun ini menjadi momen pertama kali dalam 15 tahun para musisi perempuan mendominasi pertunjukan musik.
Terakhir kali para perempuan mendominasi pertunjukan musik adalah Madonna dan Celine Dion yang mendominasi peringkat pada 2008. Menurut Pollstar, pencapaian Taylor Swift dan Beyonce merupakan "tanda yang sangat positif bagi industri ini."
"Duo ini tidak hanya meruntuhkan batasan tetapi juga menciptakan atap yang lebih inklusif." lanjut Pollstar.
