Bitcoin Reaches US$ 40,000, Predicted to Reach US$ 100,000 in 2024

The price of Bitcoin rose to the level of US$ 40,000 on Sunday (3/12), which was the highest level for this most popular cryptocurrency in almost a year and a half. Bitcoin's rise was fueled by speculation that regulators in America would soon approve market-traded Bitcoin funds.
Executives in the cryptocurrency industry are calling the start of a new bull run with more and more predicting Bitcoin prices could reach a new all-time high above US$100,000 in 2024.
Bitcoin has rallied more than 120% this year, and many are optimistic the bull run will continue. “It feels like [2023] is the year to prepare for the upcoming upturn. "But the sentiment is very hopeful for 2024 and 2025," said Ledger CEO Pascal Gauthier, as quoted by CNBC, Sunday (3/12).
Bitcoin rose US$ 611 or 1.55% compared to the previous close to US$ 40,085. This level is 51.1% above this year's lowest level of US$ 26,533 reached on October 11.
Bitcoin prices have more than doubled so far this year, recovering to levels before the crash of the so-called stablecoin terraUSD and its sister tokens in May 2022.
Bitcoin's crash caused chaos in the crypto market and triggered the bankruptcy of several leading companies in the crypto sector. Bitcoin is still down from its record high of US$ 69,000, reached in November 2021.
So far Bitcoin has failed to make the inroads into mainstream commerce that its proponents long predicted, and most investors and large companies remain wary of Bitcoin as an investment.
Ether, a coin connected to the ethereum blockchain network, rose 2.07% to US$ 2,210.70 on Sunday, adding US$ 44.90 to its previous close.
