Israeli MEDIA, the Jerusalem Post, once called Indonesia a backward country. The Jerusalem Post made these comments after the World Football Federation (FIFA) revoked Indonesia's status as host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup on Wednesday, March 29 2023.
At that time, FIFA revoked Indonesia's status as host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup because several parties rejected the presence of the Israel U-20 National Team in Indonesia. In order to maintain the security of the Israel U-20 National Team, FIFA has also moved the venue for the 2023 U-20 World Cup which will be held from 20 May to 11 June 2023 to Argentina.

"The image projected by Indonesia is not that of a modern and forward-looking nation, but rather that of a backward country that is still blinded by anti-Israel prejudice," read a statement from the Jerusalem Post in mid-April 2023.
“Antipathy towards Israel has so blinded Indonesia that the country has taken steps that are contrary to its own interests. "Hosting this tournament will allow their youth teams, who did not qualify on their own merits, to participate (in the 2023 U-20 World Cup)," stressed the Jerusalem Post.
In the end, FIFA did not fall for the statement made by the Jerusalem Post. Evidently, FIFA still trusts Indonesia to host the 2023 U-17 World Cup which will be held from 10 November to 2 December 2023.
This fact shows that Indonesia is considered by FIFA as a country that is ready to host major events such as the World Cup. Moreover, in terms of infrastructure, Indonesia is very ready with four fields chosen as hosting venues for the 2023 U-17 World Cup, namely Jakarta International Stadium, Manahan Stadium Solo, Jalak Harupat Stadium and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium Surabaya.
On the other hand, Israel is in the spotlight because of the barbaric actions of its military against Palestine. Many innocent Palestinian civilians have become victims of Israeli military attacks.

MEDIA Israel, Jerusalem Post, pernah menyebut Indonesia sebagai negara terbelakang. Komentar itu disampaikan Jerusalem Post setelah Federasi Sepakbola Dunia (FIFA) mencabut status Indonesia sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-20 2023 pada Rabu, 29 Maret 2023.
Saat itu, FIFA mencabut status Indonesia sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-20 2023 karena beberapa pihak menolak kehadiran Timnas Israel U-20 di Tanah Air. Demi menjaga keamanan Timnas Israel U-20, FIFA pun memindahkan venue Piala Dunia U-20 2023 yang dilangsungkan pada 20 Mei hingga 11 Juni 2023 ke Argentina.

“Citra yang diproyeksikan Indonesia bukanlah bangsa yang modern dan berwawasan ke depan, melainkan sebagai negara terbelakang yang masih dibutakan prasangka anti-Israel,” bunyi pernyataan Jerusalem Post pada medio April 2023.
“Antipati terhadap Israel begitu membutakan Indonesia sehingga negara tersebut mengambil langkah yang bertentangan dengan kepentingannya sendiri. Menjadi tuan rumah turnamen ini akan memungkinkan tim junior mereka, yang tidak memenuhi syarat atas kemampuannya sendiri, untuk berpartisipasi (di Piala Dunia U-20 2023),” tegas Jerusalem Post.
Pada akhirnya, FIFA tidak terjerumus dengan pernyataan yang dibuat Jerusalem Post. Terbukti, FIFA masih memercayai Indonesia sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-17 2023 yang digelar pada 10 November hingga 2 Desember 2023.
Fakta ini menunjukan Indonesia dianggap FIFA sebagai negara yang siap menyelenggarakan event besar seperti Piala Dunia. Terlebih secara infrastruktur, Indonesia sangat siap dengan empat lapangan yang dipilih sebagai venue tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-17 2023, yakni Jakarta Internasional Stadium, Stadion Manahan Solo, Stadion Jalak Harupat dan Stadion Gelora Bung Tomo Surabaya.
Di sisi lain, Israel justru menjadi sorotan karena aksi biadab para militer mereka kepada Palestina. Banyak masyarakat sipil Palestina yang tak bersalah menjadi korban serangan militer Israel.

Bahkan beberapa kali, milter Israel menyerang pertandingan sepakbola di Palestina, salah satunya final Piala Liga Palestina 2023 yang mempertemukan Jabal Al-Mukaber vs Balata FC pada Kamis, 30 Maret 2023 malam WIB.
Saat itu efek serangan Palestina, banyak anak-anak dan ibu-ibu yang sesak napas karena mendapat serangan gas air mata. Sayangnya, FIFA masih tebang pilih dalam hal yang satu ini.
FIFA terkesan tak mau menghukum Israel, meskipun jelas-jelas tentara Israel melakukan kekerasan. Penilaian berbeda dibuat FIFA dengan menghukum Federasi Sepakbola Rusia setelah militer Rusia melakukan invansi kepada Ukraina pada awal 2022.
