Musk made this gesture after someone at X asked him why someone would want to block and/or mute someone. Musk responded to the post by saying that the blocking feature would be removed as a feature soon, except for DMs.
Reported by IGN, Saturday (19/8/2023), he followed up by saying that the block feature makes no sense even though the block feature will still be available for DMs.
On social media platforms like X, blocking features are often a tool used by many people to remove not only spam accounts or bots that interact with their accounts, but also people who mock them. Apart from deleting, those accounts they don't want can't contact them in any way on the platform in question.
While the mute button is still in place, this decision means that unwanted accounts will still be able to follow, message, and interact with the user in question in comments, but not view the muted user's feed posts.
Musk's decision to remove the block button quickly trended across X and prompted speculation that this was a play on serving more ads, as users would no longer be able to block ads.
It's the latest move Musk has made since taking over the company in 2022, at which point Musk has made a polarizing decision that was met with confusion and frustration from some users.
With the block button going away any time soon, it doesn't look like Musk is done with remaking the platform formerly known as Twitter. (bnt/iss)

Gerakan ini dilakukan Musk setelah seseorang di X menanyakan alasan mengapa seseorang ingin memblokir dan/atau membisukan seseorang. Musk menanggapi postingan tersebut dengan mengatakan bahwa fitur pemblokiran akan segera dihapus sebagai fitur, kecuali untuk DM.
Dilansir IGN, Sabtu (19/8/2023), dia menindaklanjuti dengan mengatakan bahwa fitur blokir tidak masuk akal meskipun fitur blokir akan tetap tersedia untuk DM.
Di platform media sosial seperti X, fitur pemblokiran sering kali menjadi alat yang digunakan oleh banyak orang untuk menghapus tidak hanya akun spam atau bot yang berinteraksi dengan akun mereka, tetapi juga orang-orang yang mengejek mereka. Selain menghapus, akun-akun yang tidak mereka inginkan tersebut juga tidak bisa menghubungi mereka dengan cara apa pun di platform yang bersangkutan.
Meskipun tombol bisu masih ada, keputusan ini berarti akun yang tidak diinginkan itu masih bisa mengikuti, mengirim pesan, dan berinteraksi dengan pengguna yang bersangkutan dalam komentar, tapi tidak bisa melihat kiriman feed dari pengguna yang dibisukan,
Keputusan Musk untuk menghapus tombol blokir dengan cepat menjadi tren di seluruh X dan mendorong spekulasi bahwa ini adalah permainan untuk menayangkan lebih banyak iklan, karena pengguna tidak lagi dapat memblokir iklan.
Ini adalah langkah terbaru yang dilakukan Musk sejak mengambil alih perusahaan pada tahun 2022, di mana Musk telah membuat keputusan polarisasi yang disambut dengan kebingungan dan frustrasi dari beberapa pengguna.
