FIFA grants Marko Simic's lawsuit, Persija is obliged to pay 7 billion!
Marko Simic reportedly won a lawsuit at FIFA against Persija Jakarta. The team nicknamed the Kemayoran Tigers even had to pay the former striker a total of IDR 7 billion!
As is known, before leaving Persija, the Croatian striker did bring up the issue of cutting his salary during the Covid-19 pandemic to FIFA.
In the official FIFA document number REF FPSD-5911 regarding the decision, Persija's management must pay salaries and bonuses and other former players from May 2020 to April 2022. The document has 23 pages of records.
When added up, Persija must pay the amount of money to the striker with a total of USD 477,217 or the equivalent of more than IDR 7 billion. The money includes salaries, bonuses, and interest of 5 percent each.
Clubs are also required to pay a certain amount of money. Apart from salary, there are also costs that must be paid from home, plane tickets, living expenses, and compensation for unilateral termination of the contract. Especially when League 1 stopped due to Covid-19.
Previously, the Croatian striker terminated his contract unilaterally because Persija claimed his salary was in arrears. Meanwhile, Persija denied that Marko Simic had agreed to a salary adjustment according to PSSI rules when the competition stopped due to the impact of COVID-19.
After suing Persija, the striker born in 1988 moved to a club in his hometown in Croatia Radnicki Kragujevac. Together with Persija, Simic won the League 1 title and the 2018 League 1 Top scorer.
Simic was hailed as a Persija hero at that time. In the 2019 season, Simic remained gacor by scoring 28 goals. Simic averaged 30 matches/season, except for the 2020/21 season which was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
