🔸️Messier 83, M83 or NGC 5236 is a barred spiral galaxy located 15 million light-years away in the constellation borders of Hydra and Centaurus.

🔸️M83 was discovered by Nicolas- Louis de Lacaille at the Cape of Good Hope on 23 February 1752.

🔸️M83 is one of the largest and closest barred spirals to us; it has hosted a large number of supernova explosions, and appears to have a double nucleus lurking at its core.
