Inviting Residents to Support the Normalization of the Ciliwung River, Heru Budi: It Benefits Us All
Acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono invited the public to support the normalization program for the Ciliwung River.
Heru conveyed this when giving a speech at the Ciliwung Rowing Festival at Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Sunday (4/12/2022).
The former Mayor of North Jakarta asked the public to support the normalization of the Ciliwung River because this program brings benefits to all parties.
"Let's support the normalization of the Ciliwung River, which of course I appreciate, is mutually beneficial for all of us," said Heru.
To note, the normalization of the Ciliwung River aims to minimize flooding in the Capital City.
There are at least two agencies working on this program, namely the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
DKI Pemprov is burdened with the task of acquiring land in the Ciliwung River area, while the PUPR Ministry is responsible for building sheet piles in the Ciliwung River.
Currently, the Provincial Government of DKI-Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing are focusing on making Ciliwung River sewers, which are a sub-program for the normalization of this river.
The Ciliwung River canal stretches from the water inlet at Bidara cina and the water outlet at Kebon Nanas. This program is targeted to be completed no later than April 2023.
Meanwhile, the Ciliwung River canal is said to be capable of reducing 60 cubic meters of water per second.
