Kuching is the capital city of Sarawak in Borneo, and Kuala Terengganu is the capital city of Terengganu on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
Kuching is a major food destination and is a member of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network under the field of gastronomy. Kuching is also the main gateway for travellers visiting Sarawak and Borneo. The city has become one of the major industrial and commercial centres in East Malaysia. After the formation of Malaysia in 1963, Kuching retained its status as state capital and was granted city status in 1988.
Kuala Terengganu is the only royal capital among the nine royal states of the country that bore its state's name. It is located about 440 kilometres northeast of Kuala Lumpur on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. As the principal gateway for tourists to the state, tourism remains as one of the economic source for Kuala Terengganu.
