Six Cruise Ships Scheduled to Lean at Tanjung Perak
PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Java Sub-region stated that the Tanjung Perak Port of Surabaya was ready to welcome the arrival of the cruise ship "Cruise" for the first time after the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We are very enthusiastic about welcoming the arrival of the inaugural Cruise ship at Tanjung Perak Port, this is something we have been looking forward to for the last two years of this pandemic. Hopefully this can be a revival of the economy and tourism in East Java Province," said Onny Djayus, CEO of Pelindo Sub-Regional Java in a statement released by Antara, Friday (11/11/2022).
The plan is that there will be six cruise ships scheduled to dock at Tanjung Perak Harbor in November-December 2022, including MV. Viking Orion and MV. Regatta on November 20 and 24 2022 and MV. Viking Mars, Seven Seas Explorer, and MV. Genting Dream on the 9th, 12th, 15th, and 20thDecember 2022.
"We will prepare as well as possible and coordinate with several agencies and relevant policy makers to make preparations for welcoming, guarding and inspecting intensively when the cruise ship arrives at Tanjung Perak Port," said Onny.
In addition, other preparations were also carried out by Pelindo, such as checking the readiness of the dock operation and the preparation of the Gapura Surya Nusantara (GSN) passenger terminal facilities starting from the garbarata, passenger waiting room, body temperature scanner (thermal scanner), document inspection room, X-Ray, roomlactation, check-in counters, and provided MSME outlets for tourists who will shop.
Foreign tourists who meet the immigration requirements can get off the ship by wearing a mask and keeping a distance to have their body temperature checked and show a Covid-19 vaccination certificate to the Port Health Quarantine Office (KKP) and be directed to enter the passenger waiting room.
Furthermore, passengers are directed to X-Ray inspection for goods inspection by Customs and Excise.
Previously, there was also the inaugural visit of the French MV.Le Laperouse cruise ship that docked at Tanjung Tembaga Harbor on September 21 and September 24 at Tanjung Emas Harbor which brought 85 tourists and 118 crew at the same time starting the cruise ship visit in 2022. after the Covid-19 Pandemic in the Java Sub-Regional Pelindo environment.
"Indeed, the trend number of cruise ship visits in 2022 decreased by 65 percent or as many as six units when compared to 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic of 14 units," he said.
"However, with all the best facilities and services from the Tanjung Perak Port management, in the future we are optimistic that the number of cruise ship visits coming from around the world will continue to increase every year as before the Covid-19 Pandemic," said Onny.(ant/iss)
