PUBLICATION OF THE DECREE DECLARING THREE DAYS OF MOURNING FOR HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II
What means days of National Mourning in Portugal:
During the days of national mourning, the National Flag must be hoisted at half-mast in all public buildings.
Following the announcement made on 15th September 2022, the Decree No. 4-A/2022, of September 16 has now been published. It states:
“Summary: Declares national mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland profoundly marked the second half of the 20th century and the first quarter of the 21st century.
Even before becoming queen, she officially served during the Second World War, either as a mechanic or through radio broadcasts. As Head of State, she was an example of public service and delivery, as well as devotion to her duty, which had repercussions across borders, being unanimously remembered as a benchmark of stability. Her contribution to her country during the difficult post-war period is undeniable, as well as to the development of close and friendly relations with dozens of countries in the Commonwealth and among the United Kingdom's Allies on several continents.
The exceptional longevity of her reign, during which she was served with 15 prime ministers, symbolizes the entire most recent era of his country's history. An era in which profound transformations
