James Gunn Will Officially Be Director of Superman: Legacy

James Gunn directly confirmed that he would be working on the first film from DC Studios under his leadership, Superman: Legacy. Gunn said Superman: Legacy will release on July 11, 2025.
"Yes, I am directing Superman: Legacy which will be released on July 11, 2025," James Gunn wrote on Twitter.
"My brother Matt told me he started crying when he saw the release date. I asked him why, he said 'Dude, it's daddy's birthday'. I didn't even realize it,"
Gunn said that he had long been offered to work on Superman. But then years ago, he turned down the offer.
"I didn't yet have a way that felt unique, fun, and emotional that gave Superman the dignity he deserves," Gunn said.
It wasn't until then, Gunn said, less than a year ago that he came across a number of stories surrounding the life of Superman's legacy and felt they could be his entry point.
A number of these things were mentioned regarding Superman's background, namely his parents on Krypton who were aristocrats and his human parents on Earth who were farmers.
Both of these aspects, Gunn calls, influence Superman in determining who he is and making decisions in his life.
